I lost my dad, my wife, and then my mother all within the past six months - effectively cutting the family in half. Grief has been my shadow ever since. But the way you describe allowing ourselves to feel, and ride through, the grief as a healthy response was actually a relief. I have absolutely been okay at 10, and a sobbing puddle at 10:30. Grief is a tricky shadow, one I suspect I'll be trying to live with for some time to come. But your words made it a little easier - so thank you.
Pirate Carolyn, that is brutal and we are sorry. Grief is a tall, dark shadow. We are sad for your tears, but we hope you can 'plant' your tears so they can grow and flower into something beautiful despite their tragic roots. Blessings to you
Katrina, Christopher & Eddie - thank you so much for your willingness to bring category design to the topic of grief with such candor, honesty and vulnerability. I believe you will help millions of people. Thank you!
Thank you Pastor Dave. We know you have a lot of first hand experience in helping those walk through the fire of grief. We are hoping category design can provide a slightly different way to look at grief that can help as many as possible. We are blessed to be on the pirate ship with you!
I have lost all the important people in my family and am in process of losing a dear friend of 20 years to brain stem fluid cancer. I like the concept of having a place in my apartment where they reside. My box of containers of ashes that's in my office closet may need to be more intentionally located.
Thank you for sharing your grief Sharon. We are very sorry for all the empty chairs you have and we hope the idea of a place for your loved ones will be a blessing for you. Arr!
