Great stuff as always.

I actively study the past through case studies, books or whatever I can find. You can’t question the past and create a new different category/future without that. In my opinion.

What if what you do isn’t a massive paradigm shift like Airbnb, it’s just a gentle change of focus? Is that still category design?

It can be! One of our favorite examples is Sushirrito: it's not sushi, and it's not a burrito, it's a Sushirrito! -- https://www.sushirrito.com

The key is establish the new point of view (slight change you mentioned) and name it.

Languaging as the pirate's say is everything.

In my business I did this on accident.

I wanted to to help new independent adjusters get work, but thought how they were going about it was like playing the lottery.

So I showed them another way to start.

Wasn't revolutionary to the world but it rejected one premise about our industry... How you had to get started.
